Lakers Steal The Victory In Double Overtime

LOS ANGELES (AP) Metta World Peace was subdued and contrite in the Los Angeles Lakers ' locker room, apologizing to Oklahoma City's James Harden for throwing the elbow that sent them both to the locker room in the second quarter. They both missed a beauty of a game that could echo into the postseason for two division leaders. Kobe Bryant scored six of his 26 points in the second overtime alongside an unorthodox Lakers lineup, and Los Angeles rallied from an 18-point deficit in the second half for a 114-106 victory over the Thunder on Sunday. Pau Gasol had 20 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists for the Lakers, who made an impressive comeback in their regular-season home finale against off-target Thunder stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, who combined to miss 42 of their 56 shots. Los Angeles' rally stunned the Thunder and set an early tone for their possible second-round playoff matchup. ``It's not so much that we beat Oklahoma, but how we did it,'' said Bryant, who shook off his own woeful shooting game with two key 3-pointers late in regulation. ``In the playoffs, particularly if you don't have home-court advantage, you're going to have games like this. We have to have the poise and the confidence to just keep chipping away.'' Yet everything after halftime was colored by the drama and violence that occurred 1:37 before the break. World Peace had just dunked over Durant and Serge Ibaka on a fast break and was headed back upcourt when he ran into Harden. While pounding his chest with his right arm, World Peace raised his left elbow over Harden's shoulder and cleanly hit Harden in the back of the skull. Harden dropped to the court and stayed down for about a minute before heading to the locker room. Ibaka and other Thunder players challenged World Peace, but were kept apart, and World Peace was ejected after officials reviewed the tape. ``I got real emotional and excited, and it was unfortunate that James had to get hit with the unintentional elbow,'' said World Peace, who had scored 12 points and played solid defense on Durant. ``I hope he's OK. Oklahoma, they're playing for a championship this year. I apologize to the Thunder and James Harden. It was just unfortunate.'' The Thunder didn't immediately announce whether Harden, who scored 14 points, had a concussion. Bryant and other Lakers acknowledged World Peace is likely to face a multigame suspension with just one game left in their regular season. ``I'm just happy my teammate is all right,'' said Durant, who scored 35 points on 11-for-34 shooting. ``It was a bad play. Hopefully Ron didn't do it intentionally or have any malicious intentions on that. We've got to move past that.'' Ibaka had 18 points and 14 rebounds for the Thunder, who led by 11 points with 4 minutes left in regulation. Westbrook had 14 points on 3-for-22 shooting and 10 assists as Oklahoma City fell 1 1/2 games behind San Antonio atop the Western Conference with just its third loss in nine games. Despite the loss, Durant finally passed Bryant in the race for both superstars' third NBA scoring title. Durant, the two-time defending scoring champion, is averaging 27.906 points with two to play, while Bryant - the NBA's top scorer for nearly the entire regular season - slipped back into second at 27.862 points per game with just one game left. The Lakers rallied with seldom-used Devin Ebanks and Jordan Hill alongside Bryant, Gasol and backup point guard Steve Blake, who hit three key 3-pointers. Ebanks had eight points and two key defensive plays in the final minute, while Hill had 14 points and a career high-tying 15 rebounds. ``Being down double digits against a very good team, we could have folded easily,'' Lakers coach Mike Brown said. ``This might have been our best team win of the year.'' Bryant struggled through the first three quarters of his first home game since April 6 before coming alive down the stretch during Los Angeles' rally. Bryant then hit the tiebreaking fall-away jumper with 52 seconds left in the second overtime, followed by two free throws as the Lakers hung on. Even with Harden unavailable to provide his usual offensive boost, the Thunder could only blame themselves for a 4-for-19 fourth quarter with four turnovers, followed by a 5-for-17 effort in the two overtime periods. ``I believe in Kevin, I believe in Russell, I believe in what our guys do,'' Thunder coach Scott Brooks said. ``Some nights they're not going to fall for you, but if the execution is good and the shots are good, you have to live with the results.'' World Peace was making major contributions to the Lakers on both ends of the court before his ejection for yet another unpredictable outburst in the erstwhile Ron Artest's long history of misbehavior. World Peace, who changed his name last year, has been mostly well-behaved during his three seasons with the Lakers, even winning an award as the NBA's citizen of the year for his extensive charity work around mental-health issues. Yet he'll always be most famous for his 86-game suspension for participating in the brawl in the Palace of Auburn Hills stands while playing for Indiana in November 2004. The Lakers pulled within one point on World Peace's dunk, but fell apart after the ejection, managing just 14 points in the next 14 minutes. NOTES: The Lakers missed their first eight 3-pointers before Blake's 3 with 4:36 to play. ... Bryant wore no support on his knees, and Lakers point guard Ramon Sessions ditched the harness he has worn for several games on his sprained left shoulder. ... Derek Fisher got another loud ovation from his longtime Lakers fans when he checked in for the Thunder. The veteran point guard had five points. ... Jack Nicholson celebrated his 75th birthday in his usual courtside seat. Other fans near courtside included Denzel Washington, Will Ferrell, Mark Harmon, Ashton Kutcher, Steven Spielberg, Jerry Ferrara and Flea. -CNN- - DyMNation

While performing “Take Care” in Birmingham, UK last night (April 19th) at the LG Arena on his “Club Paradise” tour, Drake tripped and fell on stage. Ma$e In IRS Trouble

Is Diddy's former prodige Ma$e caught up on his income tax payments? Eh-Eh, Eh-Eh. According to documents filed in Florida by the IRS, Ma$e owes a total of 124,774.85 in back taxes ... stemming from the years 2000, 2001 and 2004. Perhaps not coincidentally, Ma$e retired from the music business in 1999 after saying he got a "calling from God." After a turn with the ministry, Ma$e returned with an album in (you guessed it) 2004.A call to Ma$e's rep was not returned. -TMZ - DyMNation

George Zimmerman Out On Bail (Video)

"George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer charged with murder in the February death of Trayvon Martin, has been released on bail from a Florida jail. Zimmerman walked out of the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Sanford, Florida, around midnight Sunday, wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans and carrying a brown paper bag in his arms. He got into the back of a white BMW and did not speak to reporters. It was not immediately known where he was headed. The Seminole County Sheriff's Office said Zimmerman was fitted with an electronic monitoring device, which can keep tabs on his whereabouts in real time. Over the weekend, his lawyer had said Zimmerman could remain behind bars until the middle of this week due to concerns about collecting enough funds for his bond, which was set at $150,000." - CNN - DyMNation

Think Like A Man 7 Million Box Office

Directed by Tim Story, "Think Like A Man" has been tracking very well despite little mainstream press acknowledgement. (The film was projected to gross around $17 million this weekend.) Earlier this month, Vutlure reported that "Man" was the "best-testing film in Hollywood," with screening audiences giving it almost unanimous praise and approval. The romantic comedy stars Romany Malco, Meagan Good, Taraji P. Henson, Michael Ealy and Kevin Hart, who could be "Man's" not-so-secret weapon. Last year, the comedian's stand-up film, "Laugh at My Pain," earned a surprising $7.7 million at the box office. - HuffingtonPost - DyMNation

Ron Artest Back At It With Elbows ( Video)

Metta World Peace had a little bit of a Ron Artest-y moment right before halftime of Sunday's matchup with the Thunder. World Peace was having a pretty nice game, actually leading the recently-with-Kobe Bryant Lakers with 12 points, when he got a little bit too excited coming back down court after scoring a bucket. It started out with a celebration and ended up with him absolutely obliterating James Harden with an elbow to the head. Artest tried to explain the hit by telling the ref that he was just celebrating his score by pounding on his chest, but it didn't work: the hit looks pretty intentional, and he was ejected. He'll probably get suspended. And yes, yes, yes, his name is "World Peace" and he just elbowed a dude in the head. - SB Nation - DyMNation

Knowles Sporting Gucci & Versace

Blouses are back ladies! Okay, so they never really went anywhere having been a wardrobe staple for women (and even men at some points in history) for decades upon decades. While having a blouse or two in your closet isn’t anything new, there is an emerging style trend that takes the piece from classic to fashionably forward. As indicated by recent outfit choices from megastar Beyoncé Knowles, it’s now on trend to go big, bold, and brassy with printed blouses. She paired a red, white, and orange printed silk blouse from Gucci with cutoff denim shorts, blue and gold Yves Saint Laurent ‘Arty’ rings. - Batch Please - DyMNation

Diddy # 1 On Forbes list

The rapper, label mogul and celebrity endorser is inching closer to being rap's first billion-dollar man according to the Forbes list of hip-hop's wealthiest artists. The finance magazine's "Forbes Five" short list of the richest rappers were already collectively worth over $1 billion. Diddy took the top spot with an estimated net worth of $550 million, which has been boosted lately by his deal with Ciroc vodka, which reportedly pays him in the double-digit millions thanks to his share of the profits from sales, which have spiked over the last year by 122 percent. As a bonus, Diddy will earn a nine-figure payday if the brand is ever sold to another company. Diddy's fortune is also fed by his stakes in the Sean John and Enyce clothing lines, as well as the Blue Flame marketing firm, his Bad Boy record label and pieces of a number of tech startups. But the magazine said his most recent deal is the one that could push him into the billionaire boys club. The mogul's deal with Comcast to launch the Revolt cable channel — which he owns outright — in 2013 might be worth low-to-mid nine figures in the next few years. His pal Jay-Z is the next man up at an estimated $460 million. One of the few on the list who still puts out albums and tours, Jay continues to earn money from his music career, as well as the proceeds from the $204 million sale of his Rocawear clothing label in 2007. He pocketed plenty of change when he signed a $150 million deal with Live Nation in 2008 and gets added revenue from his stakes in the New Jersey Nets, his 40/40 club chain, the ad firm Translation and cosmetics company Carol's Daughter. "Who's going to be hip-hop's first billionaire is still to be determined," said ad man Steve Stoute, who founded and co-owns Translation with Jay-Z. "But clearly Jay and Puffy are far and away positioned to surpass that." Third on the list is the rap icon who recently blew some minds by bringing back Tupac as a hologram
at Coachella, Dr. Dre. The legendary beat-maker and rapper has an estimated fortune of $270 million, doubling since last year thanks to the $300 million cellphone maker HTC paid to buy a 51 percent stake in his Beats Electronic business. Sources told the magazine that both Dre and partner Interscope boss Jimmy Iovine owned one-third of the company before the deal, putting Dre's haul at $85 million after taxes, with his remaining stake worth around $100 million. Cash Money Records co-founder Birdman earned the #4 slot with an estimated $125 million fortune, mostly derived from the smash success of such artist as Drake, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne. He could creep up later this year when Cash Money's deal with Universal is up and a bidding war could erupt over the right to distribute the label's music. "One of my motivations in life is to be a billionaire," said Birdman. "We're going to keep working hard until we get our brand to be as big as possible. That's the goal in life, that's what I live for." -MTV news - DyMNation

The President To Appear On Late Night

President Obama is headed back to late night. Next Tuesday (April 24), the president will make his first appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, when the comedian takes his show to the University North Carolina. Obama will kick-off a three-state college tour next week visiting North Carolina, Colorado, and Iowa, in hopes of snagging the pivotal college vote. The commander in chief will also call on Congress to hinder student loan interest rates from doubling, which will likely appeal to student voters. Details behind his appearance are scarce, but there are plenty of topics of discussion that the president may want to entertain. This week has been full off ill-received attacks from the right-wing, including musician Ted Nugent calling him a criminal, Mitt Romney's campaign aides calling him out for eating dog meat as a child, and Michele Bachmann using the terms "tar baby" in regards to his energy policy. Fallon is becoming known for having high-profile political figures on his show. In February, First Lady Michelle Obama stopped by, and last fall, The Roots welcomed Bachmann with the Fishbone song "Lyin' A-- B--ch." - HipHop Wired- - DyMNation

Tyler The Creator On Punk'd This Week

The story begins innocently enough: an adolescent girl greets the Wanted guys on the set of their "Chasing The Sun" music video, with her admiring father watching on. Soon, however, the father can't find his "daughter," and as The Wanted drive away, we, the viewer, realize that something's a little fishy when a policeman pulls the boy band's touring van over. Things gets much more serious when the little girl hops out of their van, and while Tom tries to explain that no abduction has taken place, a cop counters with, "I can't understand a word you are saying right now!" Short-handed Heat suffer loss against lowly Wizards

MIAMI -- With the playoffs a week away, Dwyane Wade left the Miami Heat arena Saturday night with his swollen finger in a splint -- and considered himself lucky. Wade played less than 3 minutes before dislocating his left index finger but avoided serious injury as the Heat lost 86-84 to the woeful Washington Wizards. A doctor reset Wade's finger, and X-rays were negative. "I'm not going to cry about it," he said. "When I was sitting on the table before they could put it back in, the worst-case scenario was surgery, and the best-case scenario was this. Obviously it will be sore for a couple of days, but I'll be ready to go when the playoffs start, for sure." The Heat fell two games behind the Chicago Bulls in the loss column in the race for the best record in the Eastern Conference, with only three games remaining. "Second place is not a bad place to be," Wade said. His injury was ironic because coach Erik Spoelstra has made getting healthy a priority late in the regular season. As a result, LeBron James sat out for only the second time this season Saturday, and Chris Bosh was also rested. James was active but had been told he wouldn't play. When Wade departed, James got taped in preparation for entering the game. "He was overzealous," Spoelstra said with a smile. "We quickly got him on the same page about it. ... You have to mentally prepare to play. That wasn't the situation for him to go in." The Wizards' John Wall said he expected to see James take the court. "I was thinking that the start of the second half he was going to come out and play," Wall said. "I'm not complaining. I'll take the win." Nene took a feed from a driving Wall and banked in the winning layup for Washington with 0.5 seconds left. "We don't underestimate any team because their stars are out," Wall said. "Everybody is here for a reason. They are in the NBA because they can play." Wade was on defense when he appeared to get his finger caught in another player's jersey in the opening minutes. He immediately went to the locker room grimacing in pain. "I looked down, and the knuckle was up and down," he said with a chuckle. "I've never had a dislocated finger before." Fans later chanted "We want Dwyane!" but he never returned from the locker room. Without him, Miami lost for the first time in six games. Cartier Martin scored 22 points for Washington. Wall had 13 points, 13 assists, six rebounds and four steals, and Kevin Seraphin scored 17 points for the Wizards, who outscored Miami 22-3 on fast-break points. The Wizards have only 17 victories, but they have won five of their past seven games, beating both Chicago and Miami down the stretch. Miami's Mike Miller led a second-half comeback and finished with his first double-double of the season, finishing with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Mario Chalmers also scored 16 points, and Udonis Haslem had a season-high 15 rebounds. Without their stars, the Heat played poorly early and trailed 57-43 with 19 minutes left. They rallied to take their first lead of the game on Miller's follow shot at the start of the fourth quarter. "This was a great game for the rest of the guys," Spoelstra said. "To be able to compete, the guys showed a lot of toughness, especially when we got down double digits, to find a different way and not have to rely on Dwyane and Chris and LeBron. There were some brilliant, tough plays on both ends." Miller scored 10 consecutive Heat points -- including back-to-back 3-pointers -- to put them up 70-66. Washington responded with a 9-0 run capped by Maurice Evans' 3-pointer. Wall drove and fed Nene for a dunk that put the Wizards ahead 84-82 with 46 seconds left. After a Washington turnover, Haslem dunked on a follow to make it 84-all with 4.2 seconds to go. Another drive by Wall set up the winning basket. Afterward, he hugged James. "I just told him good luck in the playoffs, and go get a championship," Wall said. "I know that's his goal. I'll probably be down here watching one of the playoff games down the road." - ESPN Ed Game notes James had led the Heat in scoring for 12 consecutive games. ... The Heat fell to 8-3 when trailing at home after the first quarter. ... Washington's Jordan Crawford was 0 for 8 before he swished a shot from midcourt to beat the halftime buzzer and give Washington a 45-37 lead.
