#YMCMB Lil Wayne Signs 150 Million Record Deal

Lil Wayne might have 150 million new reasons to celebrate. It’s been speculated that the rap star just signed a $150 million, 4-album deal to re-up with Cash Money Records. While his label boss Bryan “Birdman” Williams wouldn’t confirm the official sum, he did tell MTV Monday that “it’s probably the biggest deal ever in urban music.” “I’m blessed to even do that,” Birdman said of the rumored astronomical figure he paid to keep Wayne, who signed to Cash Money when he was just a kid. “Whatever my son want, he can get. It’s all his anyway, so it don’t really matter to me.” Without Wayne, the Young Money/Cash Money empire doesn’t exist, Birdman added of the rapper’s central position. Wayne himself referenced his long-standing relationship with the label on an episode of MTV’s “Hip Hop POV” a few weeks back. “Everybody knows I came into the game at 11 years old with Cash Money Records, before we even had a major deal,” he said of his new contractual situation. “We signed a deal in I don’t remember when, and I been with Cash Money ever since. So, if you’re looking for integrity, I am the definition. If you’re looking for a person that’s gonna stay down, I am the definition. If you’re looking for loyalty, I am just that.” Looks like the new deal comes at just the right time: Birdman recently told XXL magazine that Cash Money is headed to Hollywood. He’s apparently looking to launch his Cash Money Films project with a movie starring his entire YMCMB squad, including Wayne, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Busta Rhymes and Limp Bizkit. Jury selection in the murder trial of Lil Boosie has begun. As of Monday (April 30), 700 residents of Louisiana’s East Baton Rouge Parish were selected as potential jurors in the pending murder case. The large number, up 200 people from the usual 500 citizens chosen at random, was narrowed down to 150 people, who filled out a questionnaire to gauge their ability to serve on the jury. Once the screening process is over, only 12 people will be chosen to decide the fate of the 29-year-old. Given the high-profile nature of the case, extra security has been brought into the courtroom, as a precaution. Boosie, born Torrence Hatch, is suspected of paying for the 2009 murder of Terry Body. Prosecutors in the case will use his lyrics as proof of his involvement in the shooting, but Boosie’s defense attorney maintains that his client was not involved in the murder-for-hire, noting that his lyrics prove nothing. ”Torrence Hatch wrote some of those lyrics,” said his attorney Jason Williams. “There are other artists who wrote other parts of the lyrics. Be sure to check this out couch potatoes. It’s not exactly the freshest idea to parody, but “Community’s” take on “Law & Order” in Thursday’s episode was still pretty hilarious. When a yam is found smushed in biology class, it is (of course) up to Troy and Abed to track down the suspect. Shirley, having seen many a crime show, sends them off on their way, while Jeff (obviously) and Annie take on the roles of attorneys. This episode was about the little moments and throwaway lines (not to mention the plentiful “chung-chung!” sounds). I loved Abed telling Troy, “We can’t both do the zinger”; Jeff remarking that Chang’s “There’s nothing to see here” was actually true; and Professor Kane’s admonition, “Need I remind you, this is not a courtroom!” More and more, this season seems to be focusing the most on Jeff (and secondarily, Abed). You Earn Facebook An Average Of $1.21 Per Quarter

Facebook makes an average of $1.21 on you per quarter, depending on who you are and where you live according to documents filed today. Most of that goes towards running the site, as Facebook’s net income from January 1st to March 31st this year was just $205 million despite its total revenue of $1.058 billion. So while you are “the product” on Facebook, just like on any website or physical venue that makes money through advertising, don’t expect a check in the mail. And thanks to your contribution, Facebook now values itself at $71.97 billion dollars. That’s based on what it paid for Instagram, which could end up being way more than $1 billion. Here’s how that $71.97 valuation for the social network breaks down. Bloomberg Business Week reports that the total outstanding shares of Facebook number 2.33 billion. To buy Instagram, Facebook paid $300 million in cash plus 23 million shares of its stock that it valued at $30.89 each. Multiply 2.33 billion by $30.89 and you get $71.97 billion dollars. That means the Instagram founders may have gotten a sweet deal, as the last SecondMarket auction of Facebook stock before the IPO saw shares priced at $44.10 for a total valuation of $102.8 billion. If the public Facebook stock price reaches the SecondMarket level once the company IPOs, the stock paid for Instagram would be worth $1.014 billion. That would make the total price paid for Instagram $1.314 billion. Back to how much you’re worth to Facebook. Its global average revenue per user (ARPU) of $1.21 per quarter went up 6% since the end of the first quarter of 2011. That’s still down 10% from the last quarter of 2011 when the holiday season led brands to buy more ads and led users spend more on virtual goods. If Facebook made the exact same amount per user for the next three quarters (it will make more), you’d be worth $4.84 a year. Now to keep growing its business, it will need to earn more per user by showing them more accurately targeted ads that advertisers will pay more for, or it needs to sign up more users. Emeli Sande

Singer-songwriter Emeli Sande may be little-known on this side of the pond, but it won't be for long if her UK rise is anything to go by. Her first album, Our Version of Events, came out in mid-February, debuting at number one, pushing Lana Del Rey off her mantle, wowing Simon Cowell (who declared her his "favorite songwriter at the minute") and selling over 113,000 copies. One week later Sandé won a "Critics' Choice" Brit Award, initiating her into an elite club which includes former winners Adele and Florence Welch. "It definitely gives you exposure," the petite 25-year-old with a bushy faux-hawk tells Spinner. "People pay a lot more attention to you when you're a Brit winner." Apparently, people also pay attention if your name is Adele, even if that's not the name you use. Born to a Zambian father and English mother in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, it first must be noted that Sandé's real name is Adele, a name that she had to forfeit once the "other Adele" started making her mark over three years ago. "I changed it as soon as Adele came out. I just thought, 'You've kind of taken the [name] now,' so I went with my middle name Emeli." Although the two have never met, Adele has been vocal about praising Sandé, saying simply "How great is she?" The two share a maturity that's beyond their years and an affinity for ballads. Though she has the same name as Adele, the singer has been drawing comparisons to the late Whitney Houston in terms of style. "I'm extremely flattered," she says of the comparison. "[Houston had] such a distinctive voice, I hope I have that as well." Early on, Emeli knew that she was going to have a career in music, often performing for family and friends. "It started really young, [I played] any piano I could experiment on, because we didn't have one at home. At 11, we finally got one and that's when I started formal lessons. I just fell in love with it; it's such a great instrument to write on," says Sandé, who also plays the cello and clarinet. Sandé first rose to acclaim back in 2010 singing with UK rapper Chipmunk on his popular single "Diamond Rings" and soon started songwriting for Simon Cowell's production company Syco. "I've still never met him, I've just heard really nice things he's said about me," says Sandé, whose songwriting is a huge part of her skillset. She writes for a number of artists like Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis, Cheryl Cole and Alicia Keys, who Sandé opened up for on the 10th anniversary concert of Songs in a Minor.
